They were later joined by Lynnie Combest, David Raikes, Joe Baird and Steve Montgomery to make up the Southwest Model A's board members. Newest Board Member Welcome Scott Yoder.
MAFCA approached John Gibbs at the 2018 MAFCA National Convention in Reno, NV for the possibility of hosting a convention in New Mexico. MAFCA in 2021 was looking for a group for hosting the 2024 convention. MAFCA notified John by email about hosting the 2024 convention in New Mexico. MAFCA agreed to make them a Special Interest Group (SIG). It was approved by the MAFCA board, and Southwest Model A’s became a Special Interest Group on April 30, 2022.
